Meltham Primary School Recycled Playground Equipment
Fri 30 November 2007When the school needed new playground equipment, Maggie decided to purchase a further ten activity tables as she had been impressed with the product’s durability. The new tables had board games such as chess and snakes & ladders, incorporated on the table tops.
The recycled plastic tables are ideal for use in schools as they are hardwearing and can be left outside in all weathers, without requiring regular maintenance. Vandalism is also a concern for Meltham Primary as local youths often use the site as a meeting point out of school hours, but the products are resistant to most types of vandalism, including graffiti.
Maggie comments: “We have been very impressed with the quality of the products and they have lasted remarkably well as they are quite indestructible. The activity tables are popular with the children and are well used as both places to sit and to play games during playtimes.
“Using recycled products is also important in our teaching as we can demonstrate to children the benefits of recycling.”
Since using recycled plastic activity tables, the school has also had recycled plastic fencing installed around the school’s boundaries as it offers low maintenance and increased durability.
